Women’s group heading to Alkmaar Velodrome

This weekend a group of over 20 are heading to Alkmaar for a taste of indoor track cycling.

The group comprises of a mix between experienced Senior cyclists and the up and coming Junior girls. Over the weekend they will get 2 sessions on the track, where the focus will be on familiarising themselves with the track.

Dutch coach and manager of the District Noord-Holland Team, Herman Schenk, will be looking after the group, with his assistant Bea. Herman’s team have a good record in Rás na mBan, with a win in 2007, and we greatly appreciate his invite for us to bring a group to train on the track in Alkmaar.

It is pretty exciting to have 9 Junior and Underage girls ready to hit the track with us. Some of the girls have been to an indoor track already, and most are used to Sundrive and Orange Field. And also there are a couple of new names in the mix, travelling from all corners of Ireland to join us in Holland.

With the emphasis in the High Performance section of the sport, it is a good time to get our development group used to the boards!
