The Women’s Commission are delighted to announce that they will be entering a Team in the 2019 Rás na mBan.
Women’s Commission Teams were an integral part of the Rás at its inception and we happy to get a Women’s Commission Team back competing in Ireland’s premier women’s cycling event.
After a successful outing for the Women’s Cycling Ireland Team in The ‘Women’s Tour of Omagh’ in 2018, the Women’s Commission will use the 2019 event as part of our selection process for the Rás Team.
For a fourth successive year, Rás na mBan is based in the beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny in Ireland’s Ancient East.
Teams from all over the world have signalled their intention to pitch for success in the five-day, six-stage event won in fine style last year by Coralie Demay of Team Bretagne.
The event is not open to individuals. It is for teams of five riders representing teams or clubs registered with national associations affiliated to the UCI, national teams, regional squads and composite teams.
The 2018 running of Ireland’s premier women’s bike race was the biggest yet with 25 teams and 119 riders representing 21 nations on the start line in Kilkenny last September.
