Masters Track Cycling World Championships

Entries are about to close for the 2016 Masters Track Cycling World Championships. Racing runs from Saturday 1st October to Saturday 8th October at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.

The event will be moving to Los Angeles for 2017 and 2018, so this year is a good opportunity for Irish riders to get involved.

So far, former double World Champion and reigning National Scratch Champion, Orla Hendron (Orwell-Scott) is the only Irish female on the published start list, but more riders are expected to be added over the coming days.

The Championships are open to women who are over the age of 35, with full eligibility details available on the official website. Medals are awarded in each 5 year category, 35-39, 40-44 etc.

Events include the Individual Pursuit, Sprint, Time Trial, Scratch and Points races and there are two team events – the Team Sprint and the Team Pursuit, which are open-age events. Spectator tickets are also available.

Best of luck to Orla and all of the Irish competitors this year.

If we had an indoor velodrome we would have more happy pictures like this!
