We are currently establishing the pathways for Juniors in Women’s Cycling. We have recently circulated a survey for all Junior Women to complete, and if you have not received one – please down load it here Junior Women’s Survey. Please return your completed survey to us at queries@womenscycling.ie . Look forward to hearing from you!
Our aim is to get Junior women racing at Junior Worlds, at European Championships and to create a realistic pathway to the Elite world championships and Olympic Games. In order to get a real idea of where we are now, where we want to go, and so on we need some feedback from you.
Based on the feedback and good responses from the Juniors, along with their improving performances in senior events, we have selected a team to race in Paderborn in Germany at the end of August 2008. This is the first time that Ireland will send a Junior Women’s Team to an overseas event. The first of many, we hope. See announcement here
In the 2008 National Championships we introduced a Demonstration National Junior Championship medal. The Road Race course in Glounthane, Co Cork, was tough and challenging for Juniors, but the Juniors put in impressive performances. The Juniors also answered the call to enter the Time Trial on the previous day.
2008 has seen a big step forward in Junior Women’s Cycling.
