The 2010 CI membership award scheme has opened – this year voting is online…options include best club, best overseas performance, best domestic rider (male and female), best domestic leisure event, best domestic competitive event (hint hint Rás na mBan), and most valuable volunteer (hint hint the chairwoman of the women’s commission). Finally we see an Irish girl wearing the rainbow jersey.. first of many we hope. Was super to see the strong Irish team return with their pockets full of medals, and a world champion title to boot! Aideen Collard was laden down with 4 medals from her week of racing, and Orla made history wearing the jersey! It’s easy to read the website and imagine what you can do – it’s a whole other game going out and doing it – well done to you both! Gallery here

Applications for the Cycling Ireland bursary of €1500 are now open, this will be awarded to the rider with a high performance potential in 2011. Last year the bursary was shared by Jennifer O Reilly and Sam Bennett, both of whom have had a very successful 2010 season. (more…)
