Cycling Ireland is organising a “Raleigh Around Ireland” for bikeweek 2010. Three riders will leave the spire in Dublin City at 2pm on Sunday June 13th, and will arrive in Mullingar at 4pm on Sunday 20th. Navan’s Hazel Hall takes on the Northern Route…..
As part of Bike Week 2010, Cycling Ireland will be supporting a “Raleigh Around Ireland”. Over the week three riders will take to the roads of Ireland, and between them will travel through all 32 counties in Ireland.
The riders are:
Dave McLaughlin (DTC Orwell Wheelers) who will do the South Route,
Paul O Donoghue (Sorrento Audax) who will do the West Route,
Hazel Hall (Navan) who will take on the Northern Route.
More information, including rider biographies, to come shortly. We hope to see as many members as possible joining the riders on their cycles, which start at 2pm daily.
Club of the year, Lakeside Wheelers, will be hosting the closing event at 4pm in Mullingar town. The riders will converge in Mullingar after a week of cycling, that kicks off at 2pm at the spire in Dublin city on Sunday 13th May. The three riders will be escorted into the town by local riders, who will join them for the last 10 miles. The streets of Mullingar will be closed for several hours, and the festival atmosphere will be boosted by live music and the Mullingar Farmer’s Market “Taste of Mullingar Experience”.
Bike Week runs from 13th – 19th June, and is a weeklong promotion of cycling. For the full programme of events check out www.bikeweek.ie .
