Just a reminder that tomorrow is the 2nd of Shona’s wednesday night mtb spins for women, leaving Palmerstown pub at 7pm. Last weeks spin was deadly craic and a great crowd turned up(read report here), so if you fancy a fun sociable evening learning the ropes and enjoying the fantastic trails made by the Epic club, be sure to go along and be prepared to get muddy! Ireland’s Jenny Fay was flying (despite all the volcanic ash….) in the Australian National Marathon Champs last week. Check out the mention of her on Cycling News. Jenny was one of the top road riders in Ireland for several years, and has clearly been strutting her talent since moving to Australia in late 2008. Report on race HERE
Round two of the league took place last night in Sandyford Industrial Estate. Once again it was a well run event, thanks to organisers Aideen Collard and Dave McLoughlin. In the A racee Joanna Hickey (Usher) took the win from Jennifer O Reilly (Ravens) in a two person break. Both are members of the elite track squad. (more…)

Just had to add a post to say I briefly saw the end of the youth racing in Stamullen yesterday- VERY impressed with the girls sprinting for the line – I didn’t see any results but it looked like Lucan’s Kayleigh got the win, Caoimhe Ivory in the race too… might be able to wangle a report out of one of the girls – super impressed with the speed out there!

Round 1 of the Mountainbike National Points Series(NPS) took place in Saggart in perfect conditions on a tight and gnarly course that everyone agreed was huge fun and tested the abilities of all riders. Melanie Spath(MAD), having competed in the Ras Mumhan stage race last weekend, showed her class by winning the elite ladies race from Cait Elliott(UCD) who is riding into form and finished less than 3mins behind, with Jenny McCauley(Bray) rounding out the top 3. Agata Tamulewicz(MAD) won the Sports category from Rose Griffin in 2nd and Gillian Ryan taking the 3rd podium spot. (more…)
