In what was a very tough, aggressive and exciting Road Race, Siobhan Dervan finished in a fantastic 24th position, in a group just 1min 47 seconds behind the winner – GB’s Nicole Cooke.
Ireland are fielding a 4 woman team in tomorrow’s World RR Championships. Racing starts at 12.00 Irish Time, and will 8 laps of 17.35km course – and to save you the maths – that is 138.80km.
Ravens CRT will be running the TGP Duane Delaney Memorial Next Sunday 28th September in Sundrive Track. There will be women’s events on the programme so come on down – for the craic!
Olivia Dillon and Heather Wilson were the first Irish riders to get a taste of World Championship action when they lined up today for the Elite Womens Time Trial event. Covering just over 25km, the course is a challenging one, with technical corners and the road feeling heavy with many drags; it climbs for the first 6km which means pacing is difficult and the effort has to be managed perfectly so as not to over-extend too early. The Final Round of the Zoo Hair Salon and Velotex National League was a 10TT run by Bray Wheelers. Orla Hendron of Orwell was the fastest woman on the day, and a 4th place finish for Fiona Meade secured the overall win for the St.Finbarr’s rider. (more…)

A strong team of four women has been selected to represent Ireland at the World Championships in Varese, Italy.
Just a reminder to everyone, the final round of the National League takes place in Newtownmountkennedy next Saturday – sign on at 2pm.

In conjunction with the Senior event a 2 day Underage event is being held in Sneem. The first stage was a 2 mile Time Trial using the same course as the Seniors. (more…)

After Stage 3 in Rás na mBan Louise Moriarty (UCD/Swift) retains the Leader’s Jersey, following her win in stage one, and an impressive ride in Stage two, where she finished 2 minutes clear. Louise is one of six Irish riders who go into the final stage ranked in the top 10 in GC.

Today a programme was launched to introduce kids to athletics at a basic and fun level. The programme is a joint venture between Athletics Ireland and McDonalds.. the programme looks very impressive and exciting.. check it out here .. interesting to see what other sports are doing…

Thanks to all the girls who came along this evening, it was a really enjoyable spin as ever, and it finished off the spin nicely to go back to the pub and get some snacks and chat afterwards.. what I can’t understand is why we didn’t think to do that after every spin! Unfortunately as it’s getting dark in the evenings these 7pm spins have come to an end; fear not however, once we all get good lights for our bikes we can terrify the local wildlife on some night spins..watch this space!
