The first race of the Boot Inn League kicks off this evening. All women are welcome, regardless of age, ability or experience. This will be a fully coached session – so a great opportunity to learn how to race, from top coaches!
There will be a group of cyclists leaving from the GPO at 5.45pm, if you are leaving from town. Otherwise, you can find directions in out Boot Inn League Page, along the right hand side of the website! Looking forward to seeing you there!!!

With a couple of new faces, and a couple of tired legs, there was a good turnout on Sunday last at the Stamullen GP. Orla Hendron, from Dundrum Orwell Wheelers, showed the strong form she is in, with a good win, from second placed Francine Meehan (Tullamore CC).

Details of the Corkman are as follows – thanks to Fiona Meade for doing the research! There won’t be a Leinster Team racing in the Corkman, as previously hoped, but it looks to be a great event.

The first coaching day for the Development Squad took place on the track in Sundrive Park last Saturday. Following accreditation under the guidance of track expert Hugh Byrne, the squad were coached through an interval session with top coach Paddy Doran.

The countdown has begun….. the first race of the Boot Inn League 2008 will be next Wednesday 30th April – race kicks off outside the Boot Inn (yes – it’s a pub) at 7pm. All abilities will be catered for – and we will provide coaching for this first race. Come along if you fancy trying a new sport, or would like to test your spinning skills outdoors. (more…)

Maria Hinlefaar is the Director of Limerick IT. Originally from Holland, Maria has a lot of experience of Road Racing in one of the top cycling countries. While she is now retired from competitive cycling, she still enjoys the sport at a more social level. Read our interview with Maria below.

There are two outdoor tracks in Ireland, one in Orangefield, in Belfast, and one in the Eamonn Ceannt Park on Sundrive Road in Dublin. The track commission are very supportive of women who are interested in trying out the track – and hold regular days of accreditation – where you learn skills on the track (on bikes with no gears, no brakes.. savage stuff..) and get some great training and racing in a controlled environment. Just spotted this on irishcycling.com here - I wonder if the model has a Cycling Ireland license? Maybe the PR folk in Kellogg’s aren’t aware of the women’s cycling scene in Ireland… they may not have had to fork out huge money to get someone to pose as a cyclist?

The K-Capital Cup Mountain bike series began on the 9th March in Kilruddery, Co Wicklow. This highly popular series has seen 23 women sign on to race the sports and elite categories. The 3rd round of the K-Capital Cup mountain bike series was held in Djouce Woods Co Wicklow on Sunday 5th April.
