21 ladies signed on for the second of the 2 Swords races. The rain cleared and the wind eased off just in time for the race to start. The circuit was shortened to 20k due to the evenings closing in and because of this the pace was fast right from the line. (more…)

The Tandem of Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan got a credible 8th place in the Road Race, despite an injury filled run in to the championships, and mechanical coming into the final lap. Congrats also to Mark Rohan who is the new handcycling champion of the world since last Saturday. (more…)

With less than 4 weeks until Irelands biggest womens cycling race kicks off, it’s time to get those entries in!

Don’t miss out on your chance to be part of the 24th edition of the only stage race in Ireland that is run entirely for women. This 3-day event takes place in Sneem and the roads will be familiar to anyone who has cycled the Ring of Kerry, taking in Molls Gap on friday evening, doing laps of a circuit through Sneem town on Saturday and heading out through Waterville and towards Caherciveen on Sunday. Hotel Proprietor and Ras na mBan race sponsor Louis Moriarty may have provided us with comfortable modern apartments with every amenity, a fabulous choice of breakfast and most excellent coffee in a silver coffee pot, but he could not hold off the rain on saturday morning when the girls headed out from Sneem Hotel on their first training spin of the weekend, when they recce’d the first and second stage of the Ras na mBan. At the Madigan GP on Saturday 7th August, the final round of the Martin Birney sponsored SportActive Ulster Women’s League was won by Ciara McManus (U/A) who came in 15″ ahead of Ciara Mulholland (Clann Eireann), with Geraldine Gill (Bohermeen CC) taking third. (more…)

Saturday 14th August – women’s team sprint champs – teams of minimum two riders from same club… it will be great to have a team event on the National Championships Programme – this is still a demonstration event, and will be demo until the number of competitors increase, so we urge you to please support the event, and encourage your teammates and friends to support it to.
