Baxter and Muldoon have close battle in Mount Leinster Gravity Enduro

Enduro season is heating up with two strong riders Meave Baxter and Michelle Muldoon battling it out again for the top spot in the Pro Women’s category.

Maintaining her first place podium finish last weekend in Bigwood, Baxter narrowly took first place again by two seconds. With less than 4 seconds separating Stages 1, 3 and 4 between the two riders, Stage 2 proved to be the decider with Meave taking a 10 second lead.

1st Meave Baxter, 2nd Michelle Muldoon, 3rd Ruth Doorley

Baxter writes “So glad to race Mt Leinster in the dry. Amazing work done on the trails and as always a wonderful event run by Niall and his crew. Great podium for Caitriona too. Even if she did show up an hour late! 😉

Muldoon tells us how she got on on the Mount Leinster trails “Another weekend of super tight racing against Meave Baxter who got me again, this time by 2 seconds over 24 minutes of racing! We fought hard on each stage, and even though I bagged three stage wins, Meaves awesome bike handling skills on the toughest track of them all, Stage 2, gained her a 10 second advantage on me, enough to close the gap and take the win. This really was one of those races where every stage left you wanting more but also completed bust! Each of the five stages were in prime condition. Built by bikers, these tracks were fast, technical and pushed you to your limits. I finished every stage with nothing left in the tank with both leg burn and arm pump, it was one of those races where winter interval training really pays off!

Ruth Doorley rounded off the Pro Women’s podium, steadily gaining stronger results over the season.

In the closely fought Women’s category, Catriona Brady took first place, winning all but one of the stages. Aoife Cannon took second and one stage win, with Leah McCarthy 14 seconds behind in third.
