Another welcome addition to the ladies-only racing calendar this year is the Newcastle West Knights race which takes place in Broadford, Co. Limerick this Saturday, 9th April.
The club will be hosting two separate races that morning – one for Ladies and the other for Masters.
The Ladies Race will be decided over three challenging 20 km laps, with an extra 3 km added on to give a total distance of 63 km.
A large field of Senior, Junior and U16 Ladies is expected to attend, with as many as fourteen prizes up for grabs across the different categories. To help encourage newer riders, especially those who recently completed the Munster Racing Workshop the host Club is offering two coaching packages as prizes for unplaced Novice ladies. To qualify for this category, riders need to be in their first or second year of racing, and never placed Top 6 in a ladies only race before. There will also be prizes for unplaced U16s, Juniors, U23s and Masters.
Some riders will be travelling from overseas to attend this event – Niki Kovacs, a current British Masters Track Champion, and Jenny Lake of Luton CC have been confirmed by the Club to date.
The race starts at 10.35 am, with the Prize Presentation due to kick off after refreshments, at approx. 1.30 pm.
